Adopted at the Council's 10119th meeting on a draft submitted by Bahrain for the Gulf Cooperation Council states and Jordan. It condemns Iranian attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Jordan, affirms the inherent right of individual and collective self-defence under Article 51, recalls Resolution 552 of 1984, and condemns action aimed at closing or obstructing navigation through the Strait of Hormuz or threatening maritime security at Bab el-Mandeb.

Why it mattersIt is not a Chapter VII resolution and it creates no sanctions or measures of any kind — a condemnation and a set of demands. Its recall of Resolution 552 is the Council answering a 2026 maritime crisis with the instrument it wrote for the 1980s one.
