United Nations and European Union measures on Iran are reimposed

The Security Council does not adopt a resolution continuing sanctions relief and the previously terminated measures return — an arms embargo, an enrichment and reprocessing prohibition, ballistic-missile restrictions, travel bans and asset freezes. The Council of the European Union reimposes the corresponding EU restrictive measures on 29 September.

Why it mattersThe legal architecture the whole Iranian economic file now sits inside, and it entered force five months before the war began. Iran, China and Russia have described the process as legally flawed.
