Service ensign: Ensign of the Ukrainian Ground Forces — carried by Ground Forces, not issued to this record. The service ensign of the Ground Forces. The design itself is excluded from copyright by Article 8 of Ukraine’s Law on Copyright and Related Rights, which names symbols and signs of government authorities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations. The file shipped is the Wikimedia Commons SVG "Ensign of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.svg", released under PD-UAexMilitary / PD-UA-exempt on that basis, so no attribution or share-alike obligation attaches. Optimised for web display; geometry unaltered.

State affiliation: Ukraine.

The smaller square mark is a Vigil category device, drawn from this record’s own domain, echelon and role — not an official insignia.

In brief

One of the Ground Forces' four territorial operational commands, covering the north and the Belarusian border. The 2025–26 corps reform placed the new army corps beneath the four commands rather than abolishing them; the corps under this command are reported but not carried as records, so the tree ends here by design.

Broad area of activity
Northern Ukraine and the border with Belarus and Russia's Bryansk and Kursk regions. No boundary is asserted here.
Notable history
One of the four territorial operational commands of the Ground Forces, a peacetime structure that the full-scale war did not abolish. Since 2022 the fighting has been directed through joint and operational-strategic groupings of forces, which this atlas does not carry as records, while the commands kept the regional layer of the service — territory, force generation and the formations based in it. The 2025–26 corps reform placed the new army corps beneath the four commands rather than replacing them; which corps sit under which command is reported, not published as a list.
Strengths
The command responsible for the northern direction, which the availability of Belarusian territory to Russia obliges Ukraine to screen; its role is a standing one rather than an active front.
Limitations
Wartime boundaries, the list of corps beneath it and its share of operational direction against the groupings of forces are not published, so the command is visible chiefly as a name in Ukrainian statements; nothing about dispositions or strength is authored.
