Service ensign: Ensign of the Ukrainian Air Force — carried by Air Force, not issued to this record. The service ensign of the Air Force. The design itself is excluded from copyright by Article 8 of Ukraine’s Law on Copyright and Related Rights, which names symbols and signs of government authorities, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations. The file shipped is the Wikimedia Commons SVG "Ensign of the Ukrainian Air Force.svg", released under PD-UAexMilitary / PD-UA-exempt on that basis, so no attribution or share-alike obligation attaches. Optimised for web display; geometry unaltered.

State affiliation: Ukraine.

The smaller square mark is a Vigil category device, drawn from this record’s own domain, echelon and role — not an official insignia.

In brief

One of the Air Force's four regional air commands, covering the west and the approaches from Belarus and over NATO's border; each command combines aviation, surface-to-air missile and radio-technical forces for its sector. The Air Force publishes the four commands but not their brigade lists, so none is drawn beneath it.

Broad area of activity
Western Ukraine and the approaches from Belarus and along NATO's border. No sector boundary is asserted here.
Notable history
One of the four regional air commands through which the Air Force is organised by sector, each combining aviation, surface-to-air missile and radio-technical forces. Since February 2022 the commands have carried the country's air defence against Russian missile and drone attack sector by sector, alongside mobile fire groups and, from 2025, interceptor drones. The Air Force publishes its nightly interception accounts for the service as a whole, not by command.
Strengths
The sector through which Western supply enters and over which strike routes run close to NATO airspace.
Limitations
Brigade assignments, sector boundaries and holdings are not published and are not authored; the command is visible chiefly as a name in Air Force statements, and its performance cannot be separated from the national account.
