Why it mattersVigil records this because a completed case is the only way to see the whole ladder at once — notification, contract, delivery, and entry into service — and because the backlog figure moving is the ladder made visible in a published number. The contrast cases matter as much: 500 Stinger missiles took roughly a decade from notification to delivery in 2025, Paladin howitzers notified in December 2025 are now reported as delivering in 2030, and other cases are held by an appropriation dispute in Taipei rather than by production. Delivery is not readiness, and this record asserts none.
