In brief

Romania’s marine infantry regiment, listed under the River Flotilla Command on the Naval Forces’ organisation page: raised as a battalion on 29 November 1971 and made a regiment on 1 June 2018, it is the naval service’s light infantry for the coastal, river and lagoon zone. Its strength, equipment and stations are not published and none is inferred.

Broad area of activity
Romania’s coastal, river-maritime and lagoon zone, in the regiment’s own description of its missions; no station is recorded.
Notable history
The regiment’s page dates it to 29 November 1971, when an infantry battalion of an army regiment was reorganised as the 307th Marine Infantry Battalion, moved in 1973 to a garrison the page describes as suited to its training, and raised to a regiment on 1 June 2018. It describes its amphibious doctrine and operating environment as giving it a unique character in both the Naval Forces and the Romanian Army, and records that apart from 2004–2015 it has always sat under the river forces’ command.
Strengths
A published land component under a naval command on the Danube: the regiment’s missions page lists coastal reconnaissance and surveillance, protection of critical coastal infrastructure including ports and river bases, support to river tactical groups in controlling river sectors, defence against landings in the river-maritime and lagoon zone, blocking of river crossings, and support to the coast guard and to civil authorities — light infantry moved by river craft, assault boats and helicopters, in its own words.
Limitations
Strength, equipment and stations are not published and none is inferred; the garrison the page names is not carried. The regiment is the only formation beneath the River Flotilla Command that this atlas authors, so the command’s river-craft divizioane, which the regiment is published as supporting, appear nowhere in the tree.
