In brief

The largest land force on the eastern flank. The armed forces’ own portal publishes a command layer — the General Staff, two operational-level commands and a support inspectorate — and five services, and the ministry’s gov.pl pages state which of those commands the Chief of the General Staff has held since the 2018 reform. No Polish source read names a division or a brigade, so the tree stops at command and service level.

Notable history
Poland joined NATO in 1999 and has expanded and re-equipped its forces faster than any other ally relative to its size since 2022. The command system was consolidated in 2014 into a General Staff, a General Command of the branches and an Operational Command; the ministry’s own pages record that from 23 December 2018 the General Commander, the Operational Commander and the Chief of the Support Inspectorate were placed under the Chief of the General Staff, described as the first stage of a reform whose later stage — separate service commands — was announced as planned and is not published as enacted.
Strengths
Geography and scale together: the ground every reinforcement crosses, and the largest army on it. Poland hosts the seats of Multinational Corps Northeast at Szczecin and Multinational Division Northeast at Elbląg, and NATO lists the battlegroup in Poland among the nine forward land forces on the flank; those relationships are carried on the NATO records, not as edges here.
Limitations
THE THINNEST TREE IN THIS ATLAS RELATIVE TO ITS SUBJECT, and the reason is documentary rather than military. The portal publishes commands and services and names no division or brigade; its land-forces pages, read at P4.5, describe arms of service. The gov.pl page for the General Command describes it commanding the branches’ units, but under a subordination to the Minister that the ministry’s own 2018 reform pages superseded, so the services stay filed under the root rather than under a command until a dated Polish page states the current relationship.

Rows are layout only — position and order carry no hierarchy, importance, sequence or strength. Every record shown is an immediate subordinate of the selected organisation. Headings are derived from each record’s own type and echelon. They are not command layers, and no such layer exists in the force tree.
