In brief
The land service, which publishes an Army Command at Karup, two brigades with their garrisons and nine regiments in English — the deepest such publication in the Nordic set — and warns on the same page that its regiments are garrison support units carrying names and traditions, not manoeuvre formations.

- Broad area of activity
- Denmark, from an Army Command published at Karup and brigade headquarters at Holstebro and Slagelse. The Army describes itself as the professional land forces together with conscripts, reservists and mobilisable light forces, deploying units to NATO tasks in the Baltic region and the Balkans.
- Notable history
- The Army’s current shape comes from the reorganisation begun under the 2018–2023 defence agreement, which set 1st Brigade on the path to a heavy brigade and gave 2nd Brigade the development and training role, and it is being carried forward under the 2024–2033 agreement, whose second partial agreement funds further armoured infantry vehicles for 1st Brigade and short-range air defence with a base at Oksbøl. The Army says in its own words, as of October 2024, that the heavy brigade is not yet complete.
- Strengths
- Publication. The Army names its command, its brigades, their seats and their roles, and it pre-empts the commonest misreading by stating what its regiments are for. For a module that counts only what states publish, that makes the Danish Army the best-documented land service in the Nordic set.
- Limitations
- A small professional army whose heavy brigade is a programme in progress, contributing to the flank by rotation rather than by standing presence. Regiments are not formations; battalions are below the floor; the strength range the Army publishes is not carried; and the completion state of the 2024–2033 programme is not dated here.
