Record
Conflict relevance
This is the catalogue's single record for this system. It is relevant to the module below; each module's Force Atlas shows how it is used there.
Operators
Lebanon: The Lebanese army's armoured units are built on US-origin vehicles: Cold War-era M113A2 and A3 carriers form their bulk, the 32 M2A2 Bradleys ordered in 2017 were delivered in batches from August 2017, and the HMMWV is its standard armoured utility vehicle.
Battlefield role
Protected mobility and fire support for an army equipped for internal security and border control rather than heavy combat — the vehicles with which the army deploys into the south, mans checkpoints and takes over sites under the 2024 cessation and the 2026 Framework.
Strengths
A single supply line with two decades of US funding behind it (more than $3bn since 2006 by the Arab Reform Initiative's count), training delivered with the systems, and the Bradley's step up in protection and firepower over the M113 fleet it supplements.
Limitations
Dependence on US reimbursement and spares, with new assistance since 2026 "strictly conditioned on verifiable milestones" under the Trilateral Framework; an ageing M113 base; and no published holdings or serviceability figures, so the fleet's present size is not established from any source read.
Campaign relevance
Derived: a participant organisation in these campaigns carries a typed equipment association with this system. That is not the same as documented use of the system in the campaign itself.

Documented conflict use
The army's 2017 operations against the Islamic State on the Syrian border, into which the first Bradleys were delivered; its deployment south of the Litani after November 2024 and into the pilot zones in July 2026, for which no vehicle-level documentation exists.

Dated changes
2025-12-16 Change The State Department approved a possible Foreign Military Sale to Lebanon of 90 further M1151A1 HMMWVs and related equipment, estimated at $34.5m, added to an earlier case below the notification threshold for a combined 140 vehicles; an approval, not a delivery.
2017-08-14 Delivery The first eight of 32 M2A2 Bradley fighting vehicles, with M992 ammunition carriers, were unloaded at the Port of Beirut and handed to the Lebanese army at a US Embassy ceremony; the order was valued at more than $100m and later batches followed.
