HTS and allied factions attack out of Idlib on 27 November; Aleppo falls within days as the army collapses rather than fights. Hama and then Homs follow in the fastest territorial cascade of the entire war, with Russia and Iran declining to intervene at scale.
Al-Sharaa named president; HTS and factions dissolved
A gathering of victorious faction commanders names Ahmed al-Sharaa transitional president, annuls the 2012 constitution, and announces the dissolution of HTS, the armed factions and the former regime's army and party into new state institutions — a caretaker government having run affairs since December.
