- Broad area of activity
- The Netherlands' borders and airports, protected objects and persons, and every Defence element, at home and on deployment.
- Notable history
- The Defence pages present the Marechaussee as a branch of the armed forces with three published core tasks: border control — checking persons crossing the border and combating cross-border crime "at all locations where it is in the interests of the Netherlands"; security and surveillance of important objects and people, including protecting civil aviation; and international and military police work, as "a police force for all Defence elements" and for foreign armed forces stationed in the Netherlands, with special assistance operations alongside police units when a life-threatening situation must be ended.
- Strengths
- For a module about reinforcement through host nations, a gendarmerie that controls the border, polices allied forces on Dutch soil and sits inside the defence organisation is an enabling structure in its own right, and it is published as such.
- Limitations
- Its police functions are governed and published separately from its military ones, and neither side's pages give structure below the service. Nothing about strength, posts or deployments is authored.
