In brief

The joint logistics command, published by the defence forces directly under the Commander alongside the three services. Its own site names a headquarters, three logistics regiments, a Joint Systems Centre, an Explosives Centre, a Centre for Military Medicine, a Logistics School and a Codification Centre; none of them is authored below this record.

Broad area of activity
The whole defence forces. The command states that it is responsible for materiel acquisitions, for the operational capability of troops and systems and for the availability of materiel, which makes it the organisation through which the mobilisation system is equipped.
Notable history
The defence forces publish the Logistics Command as a peer of the three services under the Commander rather than as a staff division, and the Defence Command keeps a separate Logistics Division that directs the logistics system as a whole. That split — a directing division at the top, an executing command with regiments and centres beneath it — is the structure that accession in 2023 plugged into allied logistics planning without altering; the Nordic land component command at Mikkeli, authored elsewhere, is the newest thing it must now serve.
Strengths
A single joint owner for materiel, systems, explosives and military medicine, published as such. For a conscription army whose fighting strength exists as a reserve, the organisation that holds and issues the equipment is the hinge of the whole system, and Finland publishes that organisation by name rather than folding it into the services.
Limitations
Everything that would make this record useful for sustainment analysis is unpublished and would be refused if it were not: no depot, no stock level, no distribution network, no regimental area. The command’s site names its units and its responsibilities and stops; this record stops in the same place.
