In brief

The command the Defence Forces describe as their so-called fourth armed service: it must ensure the daily functioning of the force — ammunition, arms, equipment, transport and medical services. Its page publishes six units, from a logistics school to a medical centre, and its seat at Paldiski.

Broad area of activity
The whole Estonian Defence Forces, from Paldiski: supply, movement and transport, personnel support and medical services.
Notable history
The command claims legal succession from the Varustusvalitsus established on 21 November 1918, was re-established in 2002 and carried the name Logistics Centre of the Estonian Defence Forces until 2014. Its current published form — a headquarters, a school, a movement and transport service, a supply battalion, a personnel support centre and a medical centre — is the structure through which a reserve army is equipped and moved when it mobilises, which is why it matters to a module about reinforcement.
Strengths
A single command owning supply, movement and medical support for the entire force, with a published movement and transport service. For a host nation on the flank that is the organisation that receives, moves and sustains allied units as well as its own, and Estonia publishes it as a service in its own right rather than as a staff function.
Limitations
The page publishes units and mission and no more. Capacities, holdings, depots and readiness are not published and are not carried, and the division of host-nation support between this command, the Joint Headquarters and the NATO Force Integration Unit is not described by the Estonian pages opened.
