- Belgian airspace — the component "watches over our airspace, guarantees national sovereignty, and supports the other armed forces" — and the combined Benelux quick-reaction alert alternated with the Netherlands.

- The component describes its structure as five air bases and nine types of aircraft and helicopters, and its roles as fighter aircraft for the protection of airspace, rescue helicopters based at Koksijde, A400M transport aircraft, MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft and multi-role tanker transports, with a Meteo Wing and an Air Competence Centre named beside them.
