Conflict relevance

This is the catalogue's single record for this system. It is relevant to the module below; each module's Force Atlas shows how it is used there.

Battlefield role

Interception and air defence, historically Taiwan's highest-performance interceptor.

Strengths

Strong acceleration and high-altitude interception performance, well suited to the air-policing task that dominates routine activity.

Limitations

A small fleet of a type with a limited global operator base makes spares and sustainment expensive and slow — costs that have been publicly discussed in Taiwan, including periodic debate about retirement. It is the fleet element most exposed to availability problems.
