- Broad area of activity
- The West Bank ("Judea and Samaria" in IDF usage) and the Jordan Valley border, described at strategic scale only; its territorial division is the Judea and Samaria Division.
- Notable history
- One of the IDF's three territorial regional commands, holding the West Bank since 1967. Its operations in the northern West Bank camps are the campaign this module records: the multi-day "Summer Camps" operation in Jenin, Tulkarm and nearby camps from 28 August 2024, and Operation Iron Wall, announced with the Israel Security Agency and the Border Police in Jenin camp on 21 January 2025 and extended to the Tulkarm and Nur Shams camps. OHCHR reports that 90 per cent of Jenin camp's 20,000 inhabitants had been forced out by 6 February 2025 and records 102 Palestinians killed by Israeli security forces in the Jenin, Tulkarm and Tubas governorates between December 2024 and January 2026; the camps have remained closed military areas since.
- Strengths
- A standing regional command with a permanent territorial division, operating with the internal security service and the Border Police in a theatre where it has had freedom of action since the 2002 reoccupation of the West Bank cities.
- Limitations
- Its stated purpose for Iron Wall (dismantling armed-group infrastructure and preserving freedom of action) is Israel's; the displacement and casualty record is the UN's. The command's structure below the territorial division, its strength and its dispositions are not published and not recorded.
