Broad area of activity
South Lebanon, in October 2024 and again in 2026; described at strategic scale only.
Notable history
A reserve formation the IDF announced in October 2024 as joining the ground operation in south Lebanon, which had begun on 1 October after the Northern Arrows air campaign and the killing of Hassan Nasrallah. It was reported in south Lebanon again during the 2026 war, in which Israeli ground forces entered from about 16 March and the IDF later declared a forward defence line up to 10 km north of the Blue Line.
Strengths
A reserve division the IDF has mobilised and committed to the same front twice in eighteen months, which is the public evidence of how the Northern Command reinforces the territorial 91st Division for a ground operation.
Limitations
Reserve status means its commitment is campaign-bound; its 2026 deployment rests on agency reporting and is graded moderate. No strength, order of battle, positions or current deployment are published or recorded.
