Pertinence pour les conflits
Ceci est la fiche unique du catalogue pour ce système. Il est pertinent pour le module ci-dessous ; le Force Atlas de chaque module montre comment il y est employé.
Opérateurs
Russia: Launched within the same strike packages as the Geran-2 against Ukrainian cities and the grid; Ukraine's Air Force reports jet-powered drones as a separate class in its nightly accounts. Iran is the design's origin but is not recorded as an operator in this conflict.
Rôle sur le champ de bataille
The fast element of the mass one-way attack package: flown with the slower Geran-2 and decoys so that interceptor drones, mobile fire groups and guns tuned to propeller speeds are stretched, and used against the same grid and city targets.
Typical employment
Mixed into packages with the Geran-2, decoys and missiles, where its speed forces a different allocation of the defender's cheapest layers. Nothing about routes, launch sites or timing is authored.
How the system is commonly used, at the level of published analysis — never a procedure, a loadout or an engagement envelope.
Points forts
Speed above about 200 mph against interceptor drones that, below roughly 220 mph, cannot close; a short time in the engagement zone of guns and mobile fire groups; and production that reporting puts on a steep rise — 180 launched in 2025 against some 1,400 by September 2026 on one outlet's count, with Ukraine stating more than 2,700 jet-powered launches in September 2026 alone and an interception share of about 55 per cent.
Limites
Cost and range. Reporting puts the jet types at a multiple of the Geran-2's cost with a fraction of its range, so speed is bought with reach and money; the loud, hot engine is detectable; and Ukrainian interceptor drones have been documented destroying jet-powered Gerans since late November 2025, so the advantage is being contested rather than held. Every figure here is a Ukrainian statement or a single-outlet count.
Typically used alongside
- Famille Shahed-136 / Geran-2Confiance : élevée
The piston-engined base type flown in the same packages; the jet variant exists to defeat the layers that caught it.
- Drones intercepteurs (anti-Shahed)Confiance : modérée
The Ukrainian counter the jet variant was fielded against, and the layer whose speed limit defines this type's advantage.
Adaptations observées
Russia answered the interceptor-drone layer by fielding jet-powered types at scale in 2026, and Ukraine answered in turn with faster interceptors; the exchange is the current state of the drone air war rather than a settled result.
Identification visuelle
The Geran-2's delta planform and wingtip fins, but with a dorsal jet intake above the rear fuselage and no pusher propeller; the sound is a jet whine rather than the Geran-2's moped drone. Confirmed chiefly from debris and from Ukrainian Air Force reporting.
Emploi documenté dans les conflits
Documented in Ukraine from 2025 through debris and Air Force reporting; the first Ukrainian interceptor-drone kills of jet-powered Gerans were announced on 30 November 2025. Through 2026 the type appears in nightly Ukrainian accounts as a separate class, with Ukraine stating in early October 2026 that about 55 per cent of jet-powered Shaheds were intercepted against more than 2,730 launched in September. One Ukrainian outlet reported Russian jet-type output overtaking piston-type output in August 2026; that is a single source and is not relied on.
Changements datés
2026-09 Employment Employment at volume: Ukraine stated more than 2,730 jet-powered Shahed launches in September 2026 with about 55 per cent intercepted. The figure is Ukraine's and no independent count exists.
2025-11-30 Employment Ukraine announced the first destruction of jet-powered Geran-3 drones by Sting interceptor drones — the first documented defeat of the type by the layer it was fielded to outrun.
