- Black Sea launch stations from Crimea and, after the 2023 withdrawal east, from Novorossiysk; the other fleets' patrol areas outside this war. No current position is authored.
- Historique notable
- The Black Sea Fleet rebuilt its submarine brigade with six Improved Kilo boats delivered in 2014–17, each able to fire Kalibr cruise missiles from submerged launch, and those boats have been among the war's persistent shooters against Ukrainian cities and infrastructure since 2022. The Ukrainian answer has been to reach the boats where they rest: a missile strike on the Sevastopol dry docks in September 2023 destroyed one publicly, the fleet moved its boats east to Novorossiysk, and in December 2025 the SBU and the Navy claimed the first strike on a submarine by an underwater drone there — a claim not independently established but a marker of where the contest has moved.
- Points forts
- Survivable strike from submerged launch, the least attritable element of the Black Sea force, and the platform against which Ukrainian interception is weakest.
- Limites
- Small in-theatre numbers that cannot be reinforced through the straits; dependence on vulnerable basing and repair infrastructure that Ukrainian deep strike has reached twice; and nothing below the branch is authored.
