Provenance de l’identité

Service ensign: Flag of the Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) — carried by Airborne Forces (VDV), not issued to this record. The service flag of the Airborne Forces, adopted 2004 — a blue and green bicolour charged with the VDV emblem. The design itself is not an object of copyright: Article 1259(6) of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation excludes official symbols and signs. The file shipped is the Wikimedia Commons SVG "Flag of the Russian Airborne Troops.svg", released under PD-RU-exempt on that basis, so no attribution or share-alike obligation attaches. Optimised for web display; geometry unaltered.

En bref

Zone d’activité générale
The southern front: the Kherson axis in 2022 and the Zaporizhzhia line — the Robotyne–Verbove sector — in 2023–24, by ISW's tracking. No current disposition is authored.
Historique notable
Moved from Lithuania to Novorossiysk in 1993 and given the mountain designation in the 2000s for the Caucasus, the division was the VDV's formation for the southern direction long before 2022 and fought the war there: the Kherson bridgehead in 2022, and in summer 2023 the defensive battle against the Ukrainian offensive toward Robotyne, where ISW tracked its regiments among the formations that held the fortified belt. It was reinforced during the war with motor-rifle units transferred into it — an adaptation the VDV made across its divisions as light airborne formations were used as line infantry.
Points forts
VDV selection and cohesion applied to one axis for most of the war, the positional familiarity that comes with it, and the 2023 defensive record that made the southern line hold.
Limites
Light airborne equipment in a war that punishes it, sustained attrition across successive commitments, and a regiment structure the atlas does not author.
