- Two theatres that do not touch: the Gao region and the Timbuktu hinterland for the Platform coalition and GATIA, historical since about 2021; and the centre — the Bandiagara plateau and the Mopti, Ségou and southern cercles — for Dan Na Ambassagou and the Dozo hunter militias. No unit location is published for any member.
- Historique notable
- Three kinds of armed group have fought on the state's side of the line without being the state. In the north, the Platform coalition formed in Algiers on 14 June 2014 as the loyalist counterpart to the separatist CMA, built around GATIA, the Imghad Tuareg movement founded that year under General El Hadj Ag Gamou; it signed the 2015 agreement on the government's side, fought the CMA for Kidal and Anéfis, and dissolved into irrelevance as the agreement stalled — parts of GATIA entered the CSP framework beside the movements they had fought, and the fighting elements of the northern coalitions dissolved into the Azawad Liberation Front in November 2024. In the centre, Dan Na Ambassagou formed in 2016 from Dogon hunter societies as Katiba Macina's insurgency inflamed farmer–herder conflict; UN investigation attributed the March 2019 Ogossagou massacre of Fulani civilians to fighters associated with it, the government ordered it dissolved that year, and it never disbanded. Across central and southern Mali the Dozo hunter societies were mobilised as village self-defence forces from 2015, locally organised, armed and at times funded by the state and at other times raided by it, counted in published research from October 2025 at well over a hundred subunits in several factions. What the three share is the side they fought on and a relationship with the state that has reversed more than once — delegation, joint operations, denial, crackdown — and nothing else.
- Points forts
- What the state obtained from each: a negotiating seat and military weight in Kidal region it could not field itself in 2014–15; local rootedness and terrain knowledge in Dogon country; village-level presence across the centre where no garrison exists.
- Limites
- No command, no roster and no shared present. The communal militias' targeting record — attacks on Fulani civilians documented since 2018, chiefly by Dan Na Ambassagou — feeds the insurgency it fights and is the reason the state has disowned, then re-enlisted, then raided the same networks. The Platform is defunct and GATIA reorganised; nothing about the northern members' present is claimed. No aggregate strength is published and none is authored.
