The United States chairs the monitoring of Lebanon's arrangements with Israel and backs the Lebanese army that implements them. Under the June 2026 Framework it undertakes to help verify the pilot zones, conditions new assistance on verifiable milestones and has offered the army over $30m.
Un arrangement symétrique : il se lit de la même façon des deux côtés. Rédigé une seule fois, sur une seule fiche.

Synthèse
Under the November 2024 cessation the United States chairs the Mechanism that monitors it, hosted by UNIFIL with France, and works with France in a Military Technical Committee towards a Lebanese army deployment of 10,000 in the south. The UN records that the Mechanism suspended its meetings on 18 March 2026. The US then brokered the April cessation and hosted the direct talks, including a security track launched at the Pentagon on 29 May. In the Trilateral Framework of 26 June it "intends to work closely with both countries to verify and support" the pilot-zone process; new US assistance is "strictly conditioned on verifiable milestones"; and Lebanon and the US commit to block funds reaching affiliated entities. The Secretary of State's statement the same day created the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon, facilitated by the US, committed $100m in humanitarian assistance through the UN, and said the Department of War is prepared to reimburse the Lebanese army more than $30m; it framed US policy as disarming Hezbollah so that Israel can return to its borders. Israeli and Lebanese military delegations met at US Central Command in Tampa from 20 October 2026, in talks described as strictly military; no US, Israeli or Lebanese account of their outcome was published by 24 October. On 15 October the Secretary of State told President Aoun, according to a State Department official, that returning the explosives Lebanon had seized and Hezbollah had claimed "should be out of the question".
Pourquoi c’est important
The Lebanese army is the instrument of every disarmament commitment Lebanon has made, and the US is both its principal backer and a party that has undertaken to help verify its progress; the third-party verifier the Framework process envisages had not been named by October 2026. With UNIFIL ending, the US-facilitated coordination group is the channel through which Lebanon's compliance will be judged.

Ce qui reste inconnu
- US assistance to the Lebanese army predates November 2024; validFrom dates the present arrangement, not the start of cooperation.
- The Military Coordination Group's composition, chair and seat are not published, and the status of the 2024 Mechanism after its March 2026 suspension is not established; late-September press refers to both channels.
- The Tampa talks of 20 October 2026 are known from press reporting of Israeli military sources and Lebanese statements that they were held; no State Department or Central Command readout of their outcome was found.
Lectures que les éléments permettent aussi
- Conditioned assistance can be read as support for the Lebanese state's own disarmament decisions, or as US leverage on Lebanon on Israel's behalf. The Secretary of State's statement ties it to Israel's return to its borders; the Lebanese cabinet's own decisions set the same disarmament goal. The evidence supports both readings.
