Kurz gefasst

- The European theatre, from a headquarters at Stuttgart; its commander is dual-hatted as Supreme Allied Commander Europe at SHAPE.
- Bemerkenswerte Geschichte
- The dual-hatting of the EUCOM commander with SACEUR is the structural link between the American and alliance command systems and has been continuous since the appointment was created; NATO describes SACEUR as traditionally a US flag or general officer who is also the commander of US European Command. Beneath the command sit three service component commands for Europe and Africa — army, air force and navy — each also serving US Africa Command, and each modelled here only insofar as it bears on the eastern flank.
- Stärken
- The enabling capability European members are repeatedly assessed as depending on — strategic lift, intelligence and surveillance, air-to-air refuelling, missile defence — sits under this command, and its commander holds the alliance's operational command in the same person.
- Einschränkungen
- This tree is deliberately bounded to what bears on the eastern flank. It is not the US European force structure, and no rotational deployment is modelled here as permanent structure. The command's own pages could not be fetched, so mission wording is carried as indexed rather than as read.
