- Allgemeines Tätigkeitsfeld
- The European and African theatres from Ramstein Air Base, the same settlement as Headquarters Allied Air Command; for this module, the airpower behind the flank's air-policing and air-defence picture.
- Bemerkenswerte Geschichte
- A major command of the US Air Force and the air component for two unified commands, US European Command and US Africa Command, from one headquarters at Ramstein. Its fact sheet states its role in three lines: protect the US homeland with allies and partners; project combat-ready airpower in Europe, Africa and beyond; deter aggression and win decisively should deterrence fail. For this module the command matters as the source of the US air contribution to the theatre and as the neighbour of NATO's Allied Air Command, which plans and directs the alliance's air and missile defence from the same base.
- Stärken
- Co-location with the alliance's air command, and the strategic airlift, tanker, intelligence and surveillance capability European members are repeatedly assessed as depending on.
- Einschränkungen
- This record carries the command's published mission and seat and nothing below them: no numbered air force, wing, aircraft type or rotation is authored, and the command's own pages could not be fetched. The dual-hat of its commander at Allied Air Command, widely published, is not stated on the NATO page fetched and is left unauthored.
