- Sweden’s waters and coasts, including Gotland. The armed forces state that the Navy secures them through the constant readiness of its flotillas and that its units monitor and respond above and below the surface, along the coast and at sea.
- Historique notable
- The Navy entered the alliance on 7 March 2024 and with it the Baltic lost its last non-allied coastline. For a service built around the Swedish archipelago and the sea around Gotland that is the whole structural story: the same navy, the same waters, but a sea whose western shore is now inside the collective-defence perimeter rather than beside it. The armed forces publish none of the service’s organisation, so the change is recorded here as geography, not as structure.
- Points forts
- The coast it holds. Gotland and the Swedish archipelago sit across the approaches to the central Baltic, and a navy stating a standing task above and below the surface on that coast is the allied presence in the middle of the sea that did not exist before 2024.
