- The whole of the Polish Armed Forces: planning, development programming and supervision, from the ministry in Warsaw.
- Historique notable
- The 2014 consolidation of the command system left the General Staff as a planning body beside two commands that answered to the Minister. The ministry’s pages describe the 2018 act amending the laws on the Minister’s office and on universal defence obligation as the first stage of a command-system reform: from 23 December 2018 the Chief of the General Staff became, in the ministry’s words, the first soldier of the Republic, with the General Commander, the Operational Commander and the Chief of the Support Inspectorate under him. The Territorial Defence Forces were left under the Minister until they reached full capability.
- Points forts
- A single military apex is what the 2018 reform was for: the ministry describes it as adapting the command structure to the NATO model, eliminating overlapping competence and giving one officer responsibility for command. For this module that matters because the General Staff is the Polish body that plans strategic deployment and represents the armed forces in allied military bodies.
- Limites
- The ministry announced a second stage — restoring separate service commands beneath the tactical level — and no gov.pl page read here publishes it as enacted; the record therefore describes the 2018 settlement and nothing later. The gov.pl General Staff page names no subordinate body by name, so the subordination carried in prose here rests on the reform pages, not on an organisation chart.
