The Netherlands, host of Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum, with the bi-national corps at Münster that took responsibility for Estonia and Latvia on 30 June 2026.
Historique notable
The organisation page places seven elements under the minister: the four services, the Joint Support Command and the Materiel and IT Command that "support the armed forces Services by providing products and services", and a Central Staff that "makes Defence policy". What distinguishes the Dutch forces in this module is integration rather than size: 43 Mechanised Brigade has been part of the German 1st Panzer Division since 17 March 2016 with a fully integrated German–Dutch tank battalion; the army lists 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps among its own units; and the navy's operational staff is combined with Belgium's as the Admiralty Benelux at Den Helder. The air service is now published as the Royal Netherlands Air and Space Force.
Points forts
The Netherlands is the enabling geography of the flank's north-western rear — a joint force command, a corps headquarters and the North Sea ports — and the clearest published case of bi-national force integration in the alliance, which turns Dutch brigades into part of the German reinforcement structure rather than a separate contribution.
Limites
The services publish structure to brigade and command level in English but no garrisons — "barracks across the Netherlands and abroad" — and no strength. Integration into German divisions is stated officially for one brigade and reported for the other two, and this record grades them accordingly.
