- Latvia’s land territory, from Ādaži, where the brigade shares a base with the allied forward presence.
- Historique notable
- Latvia began reorganising its land forces into a single brigade structure in 2004 after joining NATO, introduced the new structure in 2006 and dates the brigade to 14 September of that year; the President presented its colours in 2012. Its page describes the NATO forward-presence battlegroup at Ādaži as fully integrated into the brigade, while NATO records that battlegroup’s transfer into Multinational Brigade Latvia in October 2024. The brigade’s published tasks are the defence of the land territory, the combat and mobilisation readiness of its units and the preparation of units for international operations; since 2024 it also receives State Defence Service conscripts.
- Points forts
- The armed forces call it their heaviest and toughest fist and their largest professional unit, and its published function is to prepare the national battalions and the combat-support and service units — it is the training and force-generation frame of the regular land force as well as its manoeuvre formation. Sharing Ādaži with the allied brigade puts the national and multinational formations on one training area.
- Limites
- One brigade is the entire published regular land force. Its relationship to Multinational Brigade Latvia after the October 2024 transfer is not described by either party, and its page still carries the older integration language. Strength, equipment holdings and readiness are not carried; the battalions are published but below this module’s floor.
