Rolle auf dem Gefechtsfeld

Air defence and multirole strike; in the Gulf, the fighter half of the air and missile defence against drones and cruise missiles.

Stärken

A modern airframe with a European supply chain, which is the reason it was bought, and a common type across four Gulf states and four European partner nations that makes coalition operation easier. On the eastern flank it is the type most often rotated through the Baltic and Romanian air-policing missions, because four of the contributing air forces fly it.

Einschränkungen

Expensive to operate for small services, and dependent on European suppliers whose export politics — Germany's over Saudi Arabia most visibly — have interrupted support. A four-nation industrial arrangement makes upgrades slow to agree. Numbers and bases are not recorded.

Visuelle Erkennung

Twin-engine canard-delta with a single fin: foreplanes just behind the cockpit, a rectangular chin intake split in two under the nose, and a large delta wing. The canards and the chin intake separate it from the Rafale, which has its intakes at the sides.

Dokumentierter Einsatz im Konflikt

MIDDLE EAST. Saudi Typhoons flew in the Yemen campaign; no engagement in the 2026 war is established from open sources. NATO EASTERN FLANK. The type is a standing element of NATO's Baltic air policing and of the enhanced air-policing rotations in Romania and Bulgaria, flown by German, Italian, Spanish and British detachments in rotation; the campaign record (nef-baltic-air-policing) holds the rotation history and this record holds only the type. No holdings, bases or detachment strengths are stated.
